John is an author and photographer whose work focuses primarily on Nature. He has published several books highlighting his bird photography, and is additionally working on a series of fantasy stories focused on the themes of the power of youth and imagination in shaping one's worldview.

John's fourth and most recent bird photologue, Cleared for Takeoff: Travel and Nature Through the Lens, is now available for purchase via Lulu.com. The book features 114 full-color pages with over 70 of his best photographs from the past several years, including birds from Europe and Thailand alongside the stunning landscapes of the American southwest.
John's photo of a White Ibis devouring a crab took first place in the water birds category of Wild Bird Magazine's 2009 Photo Contest and appears in their September/October issue (available now).
John's third bird photologue, In Migration: A Year of Birding and Transition in Photography, is now available for purchase via Lulu.com. The book features 112 full-color pages with over 60 of his best photographs from 2007 and 2008.

John's Blue-grey Gnatcatcher appeared in the October / November issue of Birds & Blooms magazine.
John's excellent photo of a male Pileated Woodpecker was published by Birder's World magazine in their December 2006 issue. Additionally, his female Red-winged Blackbird took third place in the 2006 Huntley Meadows nature photography contest.
